Watch: Falcons WR Mohamed Sanu throws 51-yard TD pass to Julio Jones

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Mohamed Sanu showed off his arm strength against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, going deep to Julio Jones for a 51-yard touchdown in the second quarter.

When the Falcons broke the huddle, quarterback Matt Ryan lined up to the far right, in front of the Bucs’ bench, and Sanu was stationed behind center in the shotgun formation.

Sanu nearly botched the play on a fake handoff to Tevin Coleman, the ball popping in the air. But Sanu managed to grab it, dropped back and delivered a towering pass that actually traveled 57 yards.

It came down right in Jones’ arms as he slid into the end zone.

For those thinking this was a first-of-a-kind play for Sanu, not even close.

He’s not 6-for-6 passing in his career for three touchdowns and 228 yards, an average of 38 yards per compleetion.

This was Sanu’s first pass with the Falcons. His previous five throws came with the Cincinnati Bengals, most recently in 2014.

Sanu is one of the best athletes on the team, also serving as the Falcons’ emergency third-string
kicker.

He has yet to get on the field in that role, but don’t bet against him if he lines up for a field goal.
