The Pittsburgh Steelers have activated outside linebacker Jarvis Jones from the injured reserve/designated to return list and placed cornerback Cortez Allen on injured reserve, the team’s official website reports.
Jones has not played since fracturing a bone in his right wrist in the third game of the season at Carolina. He will get immediate playing time because starting right outside linebacker James Harrison is likely to miss Sunday’s game against Cincinnati with a knee injury.
Jones began the season as the starter at right outside linebacker and recorded two sacks in the first three games. He likely will split time with Arthur Moats at right outside linebacker when the Steelers play at the Bengals Sunday afternoon.
Allen fractured a bone in his thumb two weeks ago during practice. He was listed as probable for the Bengals game, but by going on injured reserve his season is over. Allen began the season as a starting cornerback, but he was demoted after the sixth game of the season in Cleveland. He played as a reserve the next two games against Houston and Indianapolis, but he did not play at all in any of the past four games.
