The Oakland Raiders activated rookie safety Obi Melifonwu from the injured reserve list on Saturday, and he is set to make his NFL debut on Sunday night against the Miami Dolphins.
The Raiders drafted Melifonwu in the second round this year. He has been sidelined since training camp with a lower leg injury.
The Raiders are hoping that Melifonwu will add a boost to their secondary, as they are the only team in NFL history to fail to record an interception in the first eight games of the season.
In a corresponding move, the Raiders waived cornerback Demetrius McCray with an injured designation on Saturday to make room for Melifonwu on the roster.
