Philadelphia Eagles kicker Luke Elliott has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday night’s game against the Dallas Cowboys due to a head injury.
With no kicker, Eagles head coach Doug Pederson told NBC he would go for it on fourth down and attempt 2-point conversions rather than kick.
The Eagles converted the first time it came up on the opening drive of the second half. After Corey Clement caught an 11-yard touchdown pass, he took a screen pass in for the 2-point conversion to put
the Eagles up 15-9.
Linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill is the Eagles’ emergency kicker. His kickoff after Clement’s touchdown reached the goal line. Ryan Switzer returned the line-drive kick to the 29.
Elliott left the field after missing a 34-yard field goal in the first quarter. He had been involved in the tackle on Switzer’s 61-yard return of the opening kickoff.
The same thing happened to the Cowboys earlier in the season in San Francisco when Dan Bailey injured his right groin. Safety Jeff Heath made two of three extra points.
