Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety T.J. Ward was arrested in Tampa on Wednesday morning for possession of marijuana, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department, Ward was arrested at 8:11 a.m. He was charged with a felony count of marijuana possession and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
Ward posted a $2,500 bond and was released shortly after his arrest. He will likely have a court date he’ll have to appear at in the coming months, and he now faces discipline from the league.
A three-time Pro Bowler, Ward signed with the Bucs last season on a one-year deal worth $5 million, but was mostly used as a rotational player.
Ward, who suffered a minor knee injury during Sunday’s season-finale against the New Orleans Saints, is set to become a free agent in March.
